Summary:
Is 2005 the year of the next big revolution in ELT? Are Interactive whiteboards the foundation of that revolution? Neil Harris believes they are and here he explains why. (Modern English Teacher, April 2005)
Here are some points from Mr. Harris’s paper:
"...it is not just the constructivist opportunities that excite me about active whiteboards; it is the potential for what has been called 'profound learning,' which is for me at the heart of the potential whiteboard revolution."
"Budget for a full system which includes voting devices and remote control (often called a slate) as these are essential for profound learning."
"Consider where you are going to place the board. Avoid ICT rooms (computer labs) as boards are best placed in normal classrooms."
